Rio Ranch is a diversified cattle operation headquartered near Hempstead, Texas, about 55 miles northwest of Houston. We raise performance-oriented Brahman, Charolais and Brangus cattle from cow families with a long record of thriving in the climate extremes of the Gulf Coast.
We set out to gather the best Brahman genetics from leading breeders in the United States and Mexico, bringing home herd sires such as the Mexico National Grand Champion Pompeyo 951/6 and his dam, the donor Criadero Lastra 314. Our goal is "front pasture" cattle: good enough to compete in the show ring, yet functional and productive out on grass.
In March 2023 we opened our gates with a Grand Opening and Field Day after the ABBA International Brahman Show in Houston, welcoming more than 500 guests. Our team brings decades of experience with cattle and horses, and we also produce hay and raise Friesian, Andalusian, Iberian and Quarter Horses. Visits are by appointment, and we are always glad to show you around.
