Our Story

Reese Ranch raises registered Santa Gertrudis bulls and females near Encinal, in the brush country of South Texas. Our cow herd rests on long-standing families: some of the oldest cows on the place are KR-bred, and one line goes back to the original 12 John Martin cows we bought. We have worked alongside breeders like Red Doc Farm for more than ten years.

In September 2023 we hosted our first Red Dirt Gert Sale, a bull and heifer sale on SCOnlinesales.com with a Santa Gertrudis field day the day before. Friends in the breed consigned cattle they were proud to put in our inaugural sale, and the sale came back in 2024 and again in 2026.

Our cattle and our family have come through environmental and personal hurdles. The 2026 sale was a goal both of our parents were looking forward to, and their legacy lives on in these cattle. We believe that if we give these animals and this land the stewardship they need, we have done our job, because our cattle are more than a business to us. They are our way of life.
