The maternal giant behind the P&R cowherd
P&R Herefords started out as a Hereford breeding partnership between brothers Paul W. Laubach and Ross W. Laubach in 1990, when they combined their Hereford show projects and FFA beef herds. Their first cows came from Graft-Britton Ranch of Leedey, OK, plus a handful of heifer calves by the legendary GK Genetic Explosion that their father Dennis picked out in 1988, still the foundation of the cowherd today.
The family's commercial cattle tradition goes back to 1900, when Timothy Craig purchased his first land in western Oklahoma near Trail. Paul refocused the breeding herd on supplying top quality Hereford genetics for commercial cattlemen, adding Line One bulls from Gene Meitler of Lucas, KS in 1995 to moderate the herd and build maternal strength.
P&R "Advancer" cattle are bred for the range: low birth weight, problem-free cattle with maternal strength and optimum performance efficiency. We don't breed our cattle to be the biggest. We breed them to be balanced, efficient cattle that can make their living out on the range.

"These bulls go straight to the canyon pastures and stay sound. Calving season is quiet and the baldy heifers we keep are the best mothers on the place."
"We bought a Line One herd sire prospect two years ago. His daughters are moderate, easy fleshing and have beautiful udders. Exactly what the catalog said."
"Honest descriptions, real data on every lot and cattle that hold up in a drought. We'll be back at the sale this fall."
