Why NextGen Cattle Co.

Data-Driven Beefmaster Genetics

Herd sires selected for performance, soundness and carcass quality, backed by BBU EPDs and the closeout and carcass data we publish on our own Black Beefmaster-sired cattle.

B2G Bull Buyer Guarantee

NextGen will bid on or buy back calves sired by our genetics, using kill data as a roadmap to rancher profitability and high-quality beef.

Genetics to Feedlot to Fork

We own and operate businesses in every segment of the beef industry, from the ranch in Paxico to NextGen at Riverbend and NextGen at Allen, so we serve customers well beyond sale day.

Our Story

NextGen Cattle Co. grew out of a shared vision of cousins Derek Thompson, Damon Thompson and Brad Lindstrom, who founded the company in 2015 and were later joined by co-owner Matt Badsky. Each built a career on relationships and service, and they brought those commitments with them into the seedstock business.

The goal from day one was to serve the commercial cattleman, whose values of integrity, trust, passion and vision sit at the heart of the program. That is why NextGen pairs its cattle with data and consulting for every ranch that buys from us, and why the B2G program will bid on or buy back the calves our bulls sire.

Today the team, first and foremost friends and family, runs Red and Black Beefmaster, Charolais and Angus seedstock from headquarters on Vera Road in Paxico, Kansas, and sells bulls and females twice a year at the Flint Hills Classic. With NextGen at Riverbend and NextGen at Allen, the company works across every segment of the beef chain, from genetics to feedlot to fork.
