The 2024 SGBI Show Sire of the Year, his daughter and his maternal sister
Starting in 1992 with a small herd of commercial Santa Gertrudis cattle, our son Todd began showing at local events in and around South Texas and Houston. Competing against the best ranches of the 90's and early 2000's, we quickly learned the quality of show calf needed to compete.
Unlike most breeders, we focus less on the sire side of the pedigree and more on the dam. Our most successful show heifers became the base of our herd, and Excell has become a boutique herd descending from our most successful female, 2004 Jr. National Grand Champion SCC Hanna 2S23.
Today over half of the cattle we register are developed through embryo transfer and artificial insemination, so we can produce multiple calves from the very best donor females in the breed. Fresh show and replacement cattle are always available at the ranch, just south of Houston.

"The embryos we bought out of their donor cows gave us our best calf crop yet. Consistent, sound, high-volume females."
