Our Story
Steve and Cindy Emmons purchased their first Beefmasters in 1975 on their ranch near Fairfield, Texas. Fifty years later they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and 50 years with Beefmaster Breeders United, with the family that now works alongside them.
The program selects for visual quality: a strong top, good structural soundness, heavy muscle and eye appeal, in both red and black. AI and embryo transfer have been used since 1980 and carcass ultrasound since 2005, with birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight and scan data collected on the herd.
Emmons Ranch has bred 7 National Champion Bulls, 2 Reserve National Champion Bulls, 1 National Performance Champion Bull, 6 Miss Beefmaster America winners and 4 Reserve Miss Beefmaster America winners. Steve is a past president of BBU, and the family was named Beefmaster Breeder of the Year in 2008.
The ranch produces bulls for the commercial cowman, seedstock for other Beefmaster breeders, and show heifers for junior exhibitors. Visitors are welcome to stop by and see the herd sires and donors.
