Past Brinkley sale toppers
Jim Brinkley was born and raised in the Green Hills of Northern Missouri near Milan. He and Sherry married in 1980, bought 50 commercial cows and their first 220-acre farm in 1984, and have made Milan their lifelong family home. Today the diversified family operation covers more than 1,300 acres and 400 registered Angus cows, with Crystal and Justin working alongside their father.
Jim joined the American Angus Association in 1995 and bought 60 Summitcrest Angus cows from the family of Certified Angus Beef pioneer Fred Johnson, recognizing Summitcrest as a unique source of carcass genetics. In 2000 they bought an entire age group of mature Summitcrest foundation females, and the herd has advanced since through AI, embryo transfer and IVF.
The first Brinkley Angus bull sale sold 20 bulls at Green City in 2003; by 2018 it had grown to 100 bulls a year. With his background as an auctioneer and order buyer, Jim is dedicated to helping customers maximize their return on BAR genetics, from marketing their feeder cattle to AI-breeding their replacement heifers.
