Al and Bev met when they were 10 years old, living across the road from each other. They married at 18, raised four daughters, and after 43 years of marriage their family has grown to 12 grandchildren.
ABN Ranch started in 2015 in southern Utah, where Al fell in love with Wagyu cattle. Al and Bev later relocated to a larger ranch in Walters, Oklahoma, with less snow and more water. In 2023 Al was elected to the board of directors of the American Wagyu Association.
Two of their daughters and their families now work on the ranch. Sheila and Luis and their kids feed over 1,300 head every day, set up embryo transfers, wean, brand and keep the cattle records. April, Al and Bev's third daughter, and her husband Edwin handle daily herd checks, fencing and welding, chute work, CattleMax data and the ranch's listings.
The goal is to breed and raise the very best in fullblood Red Wagyu based on foundation bloodlines, using semen and embryos from top foundation genetics and calving them out through recipient cows.
